540W Sharp Panels to Maximise the Output having just 7.3m x 2.6m of Roof Space.

We were limited with the roof space available at this property, having just 7.3m x 2.6m to work with. This wasn't sufficient depth to get two rows of panels, as you would need at least 3.6m of depth, gutter to ridge. This meant we could only fit a maximum of 6-7 panels. Therefore, we discussed with the client to advise him of this and suggest a possible solution.

The plan was to use commercial silver framed panels rather than the domestic all-black models. This meant we now had access to 540W panels; the largest all-black model on the market then was 415W. The switch to the commercial 540W Sharp panels meant the client could maximise the output using his roof space. This can always be an option, but depending on the client, some prefer the all-black panels over the silver frame. Others, like our customer here, prefer maximising output. At Sustainable Energy Engineering, we're happy to advise you, but let you decide.

On the battery front, the client was again offered two options for battery storage. We offered an 8.2kWh Fox ESS Cube setup or a 10kWh Fox ESS Mira setup. The Cube system is more aesthetically appealing, but the customer was okay with it being a loft installation and again opted for the higher output option, the Mira.

The Fox ESS Mira system has become a common product for us, enabling customers to use the same technology as the Fox ESS Cube at a slightly cheaper cost per kWh of storage. Some customers still prefer the Cube due to its compact and discrete design, but if it's a loft install where the kit is "out of sight, out of mind", it may be a better option. We typically provide prices on both options and let the customer decide what works best for them.
