Sustainable Energy Engineering reviews.

Mr Ledger, Durham.
I installed the solar panel system due to the rising prices being charged for electricity. I own a large property and felt like solar panels were a good investment. I can now use electricity and can pass it back to the grid over and above what I generate. I go through Octopus Energy and receive 29p per kw. The whole system is fully automatic. I have an app on my smartphone and I can watch what is happening to the power, solar panels inverter, National Grid Power, running, exporting, etc. I have seen a 30-40% reduction in my bills.
I would definitely recommend Sustainable Energy Engineering. They are an exceptional, local family based company, so not linked to any big national. The boss of the company helped and made sure the job got sorted out. I rang with a question a few days ago and they came out within the hour. I wouldn’t go any further. You can get competitive quotes but don’t know what you get sometimes, cheaper isn’t always the right way when the system should last 20-30 years.

Mr Clark, Houghton-le-Spring.
I had solar panels installed because I was looking for long term efficiencies towards retirement and things like that. I was looking to reduce my overall overheads for years ahead on a pension. The system is working well, my bills have reduced and I export my surplus energy. Over summer I had no electricity costs. We generate less electricity in the winter. Sustainable Energy Engineering were good. They were efficient, answered any queries I had and provided good technical support.

Mr & Mrs Scott, Durham.
There were a lot of things we liked about Sustainable Energy Engineering. We had a few estimates from different companies. Many of the companies weren't based in the North East and were salesman that were trying to sell us things we didn't need. Sustainable Energy Engineering were local and gave straight answers to straight questions. There was a bit of a wait for a visit. The person who owned the company came out which was very different from other companies and didn't press us to have additional things.
There was a little bit of a wait from the original quote in October until March, but they got in touch to say that they were ahead of schedule and asked if it was okay to come a few weeks earlier. We were concerned because we had just had a new roof put on, but they were very professional and outlined where the panels would go. We weren't able to get the original panels due to an issue with supply, but they offered us an alternative and kept in contact giving us regular updates.
They were very quick to send off the paperwork to Northern Power Grid after the panels had been fitted for the Feed in Tariff. I have noticed a huge decrease in my bills, for example, one month in the summer, my gas and electricity bill was only £2.
We'd recently had a new stair carpet fitted when the panel system was installed and we were worried about the workmen accessing the loft, but they were very neat and tidy and cleaned up after themselves. I don't usually give reviews, but I was very impressed with the work carried out by Sustainable Energy Engineering.

Mr Gaughan, Ryton.
I was interested in installing a solar panel system to reduce electricity bills and also for the positive impact on the environment. I estimate I have saved around £1500 in the first 15 – 16 months since having the solar panels installed and my electricity bills have reduced by at least 50%. I thought the quote provided by Sustainable Energy Engineering was very competitive and they were really efficient. They were really excellent and I would absolutely recommend them.

Mrs White, Trimdon Village.
I decided to have the solar panel system installed because of the prices of electricity and I have a south facing garden. The system works brilliantly, especially with the battery. I also receive money back from the Feed in Tariff. I find it is cheaper to use my electrical appliances when the sun is shining. I have seen a 50% reduction in my bills.
The Solax system which I had installed is a very neat system. It was put in the garage and I can still park my car. Sustainable Energy Engineering did an excellent job. I can't fault them, they were really, really good. I would definitely recommend them. They did a really good job, really thorough. My son is also going to have the system installed.
I come from an engineering background and know they are a good company, a family run business and customer focused. Last winter before the battery was connected to the grid, I was paying over £400 per month in gas and electric. I have received £200 credit since May using the system.

Mr Dee, Alnwick.
We bought a new house with a south facing roof. We’re retired so thought we would have solar panels put in. The system works well. We power the house off the solar and batteries. We charge up the batteries at cheap rate, then use the electricity during the day. We would definitely recommend Sustainable Energy Engineering. The guys worked really hard. Our installation was during February, so not many daylight hours, but they worked after dark with flood lights to carry on fitting. We were very impressed it was done in a day.

Mr Dawson, Gosforth.
I'm an electrician and installed solar panels for both cost and environmental reasons. Since installing the solar panel system, I’ve made over 50% savings on my electricity bill and I am able to charge my electric car for free. The work that Sustainable Energy Engineering carried out was good and I would recommend them.

Mr Tubb, Newcastle.
There were two aspects which influenced our decision to have a solar panel system installed, environmental reasons, concerns about global warming and reducing our carbon foot print, and to reduce bills due to a rise in energy prices. During the summer our bills are at least a third cheaper. We have noticed our bills are cheaper in winter too.
We have solar panels and two batteries in the loft and use Octopus Energy. So we charge up the batteries when the rate is lowest in the early hours of the morning and use the stored energy during the day. We would absolutely recommend Sustainable Energy Engineering. They took time to explain everything, they were professional, clean, tidy and completed the installation with minimum disruption.

Mr Riley, Stockton.
I wanted to reduce my electricity bills, oil consumption and do something more environmentally friendly, which is why I had solar panels installed. The solar panels have been absolutely fantastic. I am really happy with them. The unit diverts electricity to our hot water tank when there is a surplus, so we do not use any oil in the summer.
Along with installing a new boiler, this has cut our oil consumption by 50%. I would recommend Sustainable Energy Engineering and have personally recommended them to a family member. They were super, a really nice group of employees. They were friendly and knowledgeable and did a top-class job.

Mr Gilbert, Morpeth.
I wanted a solar panel system installed as I had just purchased an electric car, and as I have a south-facing roof, I felt the panels would offer a cheaper way of charging up the car. I also have an electric Aga, so my electric bills were already quite high before the price hikes started in 2021. I use electricity during the day for the Aga and in the evening for charging the car. The batteries provide extra electricity during the day.
I have seen a big reduction in my bills because the panels are generating a lot of electricity. I have saved around £2000 per year. Sustainable Energy Engineering were very good and I have recommended them to my colleagues who have had solar panels systems fitted by them too.
