We completed a solar PV installation at the Sunniside Community Association, a registered charity in County Durham committed to enhancing community resilience and wellbeing. Their initiatives include a community café, pantry, and health programmes tailored to local needs. This installation contributes to their long-term sustainability by reducing running costs and supporting backup power.
Our work included designing and implementing a 4.8kW solar electric system, featuring a Fox ESS hybrid inverter and a 12.3kWh battery storage unit. The system uses 12 x 400W monocrystalline solar panels - either JA Solar or Risen - each backed by a 25-year linear performance warranty and 12-year product warranty. The entire setup allows the association to generate up to 4,320 kWh annually.
Assuming 80% of the solar energy is consumed on-site (factoring in battery use), the estimated annual financial return is £1,218.24. Without battery storage, this usage percentage would drop to around 50%.
